Buccochromis heterotaenia

Anyone have any experience with this particular Bucco?

No but I believe that is the largest growing species of that genus.

I've heard they max out at 18" or so, but I've never heard of one that big in the aquarium. I've got some Buccochromis cf. Spectabilis, but they seem pretty mellow compared to what I've heard about most Bucco's.

Yeah the subspecies spectabilis are very very different compared to other buccos behavior and piscivorous tendencies....
