Has anyone used powerheads, like Koralia, to create water currents in their tanks? Is it beneficial for Tangs? Thanks!

I hook up power heads to sponge filters making power sponge filters. They work great.

I was refering to the ones that don't need to connect to any filters... I think, its main purpose is to create some undercurrent... I hooked one up in my 180 gal tank, and mann.. it does create that flow, all the "dirt" starts flowing up. I shut it off after awhile, because not sure if it is okay for the Fronts...

I don't think they need current for the sake of current, and can't powerheads add unwanted heat? If I want to stir up dirt, I increase filtration and kill two birds with one stone plus no unwanted heat.

I use them in most of my tanks. The fish seem to really like the current.

i use them. I have a koralia 4 in my 220. I think im going to buy another one as well. They work real well if you have alot of deadspots from rocks or what not. Even though koralias are good, I actually prefer the ones with the sponge attachment

I have a koralia in my 125 to minimize the dead spots also.

If you are going to move water and stir up debris from dead spots, you might as well trap the debris in a sponge filter. I like aquaclear powerheads the best. Like the aquaclear filters, they run without problems for years.

I have petrochromis:
I use a Koralia 8 in my 240 gallon tank plus 2400 mag drive (return flow) for sump, 2 aquaclear 50 powerheads for my undergravel filter stems .
I use a Koralia 6 in my 150 gallon tanks.
I use a Koralia 3 in my 125 gallon tanks, plus 2 400 GPH power heads for my undergravel filter stems.
