I was wondering if I have a young pair of red fins or if the one is a sub dominant male. I got them together. Theres no aggression toward each other & if the one is at the other side of the tank it'll swim over to catch up (no chasing or circling). The only time I can get a decent pic is when I feed them (today was brine shrimp day). Every morning they get either cichlid sinking pellets or flake food & every other night they get bs. I got some free mollies from the neighbors tank. So Im using them for dithers. So far its worked out well.... zero population growth.

Well one of them is a male. The other one i would vent to be sure. IMO could be either.
PS. Are they mollies???? lol
Oh and the yellow fish, what did you buy them as?? They might be red zebra, maybe, doubt it. If you bought them as yellow labs they are certainly not. Just helping you out mate :)

Very likely a female. I have a trio the two females look like yours both are holding right now. When they start getting a hint of color on the shoulder I thought they're males too.

If you have space or another tank separate them for a month or two. If it is indeed a sub-dom. it will start to take on the dominant male coloration.

I have 5, and your grey borleyi are females they usually have orange fins. I have 4 females and 1 male in the tank for the last 3 years and they have still yet to breed.

Yep, I got some free mollies from the neighbor so I threw them in as dither fish. The yellow lab x red zebra hybrids, though the tank wasnt labeled as such when I bought them but upon asking later on....he fessed up.

They confirmed that they are indeed a pair. I saw them twice today trying to spawn or atleast going thru the courting. They were slowly circling over a flat rock. The female seems to just casually do circles but the male is fins erect, with his pelvic, anal and a lower caudal fin almost black while the other colors intesify. How long do they hold for before releasing fry? Im used to peacocks & Mbuna.
