I recently upgraded my 46g bowfront to a 75g........i plan on stocking Labs, Dems, Acei, and some Labeotropheus OB Trewavsae..............right now i have four Acei (2-2.5", thanks emtbmike), a bunch of yellow Labs (mostly juvies, thanks Artie), and a few Reganis and Leleupi (juvies, also from Artie) and some tiny ABN's........my rainbow shark is also in there, i cant bear to part with him, ive had him about 4 years now ......i also got a bunch of used THR (about 90lbs.) from someone on another forum for a great price, it cleaned up real nice..........im running a Penguin 350, an xp2, and an xp3.....i think im gonna add a sponge filter and a powerhead (any suggestions?) to blow out debri from behind the rocks.........it also has a double flourecent light, 1 atinic and 1 6700K........

Any reason that you are using an actinic? Just like the look of it?

With your current filtration, I dont think you need a sponge filter or a powerhead. Aim the water streams from the two filters returns along the back of the tank if you want to remove detritus.

I like the actinic with either a 50/50 or Full Spectrum.

Actinic or blue light are bulbs that have been used in the recent past for reef systems that contain some of the deeper water corals. There is no reason to use them in a FW African cichlid/ holey rock set up unless you like the look of the lighting.

I would keep an eye out for your ABN. If they are small the may be picked on. You also have to make sure they are getting nutrition. Unless you see them coming out to feed, I would feed your cichlids then shut the lights off and drop in sinking pellets or wafers. The cichlids will sleep and the ABN will be able to find food.
