This is my review of Tetra's new algae wafer food that I bought while getting more hikari algae wafers at petsmart.

Here's the product info first:

Now here's my experiences with it.... NONE of my fish ate this. In all my tanks where my malawi cichlids eat whatever I throw at them they would all NOT touch this even if I broke it up to small pieces. The plecos, loaches, and siamese algae eaters all ignored this and let it swell and break down into dust (because of the loads of preservatives in this fungus won't grow on it). The so-called algae center is just a dyed green circle in the center of the wafer.
Also, this wafer is ROCK hard. I had a hard time at first trying to break it into smaller pieces for the other fish to try once I gave up trying to get the plecos and loaches to eat it.
This wafer is a grain and cereal LOADED DOG COOKIE. I swear that's all this is...an expensive dog treat. This was like catnip for my dogs (I even got to teach one of my dogs a new trick because of this wafer). Perhaps Tetra is in the wrong industry with wafer foods...
I hope none of you waste your time with this food. It has everything I hate about fish foods... Lots of artificial color, preservatives, loads of grains and starches, lots of soy (two different types!) (in this all-vegetarian wafer that's likely the protein source too), as well as a unnecessarily huge ingredients list...
