Hi,I never do this but here goes.
I found this site thru another friend on another site in which I mod at.I really do not need to join another site, but I will continue to drop by and see if I can help out in some way.
I have been keeping and breeding Lake Malawi and Tanganyikan Cichlids for almost 40 years.
My interests are Malawian fish not 'Tangs'.(I do have some 'Fronts' producing though)
I have been travelling to Lake Malawi yearly since 1999.
Stuart Grant and I were great friends until his passing last year.I was there when he passed away.
I have been importing from his facility for almost 4 years, and still continue to do so today.
I have several pics in Ad's 4th edition, while I think this is great, since he also is a dear friend,my equipment is now much better and so is my underwater work.(he bugged the H*ll out of me to upgrade)
He's now left the photography up to me,while he continues on a new path of videoing all the great behavior of fish in the Lake! (or so he says when we hooked up in Cleveland last month)
Ad has given me credit on several occasions for, photgraphing a new fish, finding interesting feeding behaviour in Sciaenochromis fryeri as well as some seine fishing video on his web site (Stuart M Grant Conservation Fund)
I may be travelling to Lake Malawi this year to assist in installing "And's"
(anti netting devices) but we are working out the time of year right now,,,I cannot go until August or September and he would like me to go earlier.
So nothing is 100% yet,,,,not until I have the ticket in my hand anyways!
With all the pictures I take in Malawi's natural habitat,I do PP Presentations on my weekends that I can arrange time off from work.I generally speak about 10-12 times per year, but things seem to be getting busier for this upcoming year with two long distance dates already.
I love talking about cichlids, sometimes at great length here and at work, but aside from the trips to Malawi I also run 60 aquariums at home.
At work I run a large Petshop in Hamilton,ON. 225 aquariums with one large shark tank, which presently houses 1-6 ft Nurse shark.
This month would see about 25-30 world wide shipments of fish arrive,so things are busy!
There's probably more I could let you in on but I think you get the idea,,,I'm no stranger to Lake Malawi fish!
Cheers,Larry
