I am trying to get some pictures of some of my vic's , with no luck . Every time I set up the camera and tripod they hide and the males lose there color ! :jail: It's driving me nuts !
I was wondering if any body elese has thought of setting up a blind ? So that they cant see me and continue to do there thing .
They are still small , but the are the shyest fish I've ever had !

take pics at night with the tank light on, but the room light off. They arent as likely to see you well when they look out at the dark room

Throw in some dithers, Jimmy.
Maybe a school of tetras or small rainbows.

I have built a blind in the past. I rigged up a makeshift frame and put it in front of the tank. I then draped large, dark sheets over the frame with a slit to stick the camera through. I left it up for a few hours before I snuck in behind the camera. It worked ok, I was able to get some shots of a few shy fish.
Usually, I just sit in front of the tank and wait. I am not going to let a fish beat me in a battle of willpower. Sometimes it takes an hour or so, but eventually they come out. The more often you do it, the more they get used to you and the camera.

"I am not going to let a fish beat me in a battle of willpower"----that's so freakin hilarious!......because it's so true for me too! LOL!
"The more often you do it, the more they get used to you and the camera."
Great advice:beerchug:
Another method that has worked is to do a very lite feeding first, do some camera work (pop the flash every now and then even if your not snapping a shot--just to get them accustomed to it), then do another very lite feeding when your done. If you do this regularly, the fish will come to associate the camera/flash/you hangin' 'round with some food...........
