Ok, lets get started...
The place and time that we meet will be announced. The best thing to do would be to meet somewhere near the facility, and a diner would be great.
Carpools are the way to go.
As we get closer I would like to get a count of the vehicles and their occupants.
If you do not have anyone to go with and are looking to carpool please post here. I would like to get a total count a few days before we go so please, even if you are not going to carpool, tell me that you are going.

Dave are you going?
How long is the drive from PA?
fischfan13
01-28-2009, 11:47 AM
Sam, you are about 175 miles from Peter/Atlantis.
I would say about three hours. Definitely do the trip, it is well worth it.
There will be many cars going, and I am sure that just about anyone will be able to carpool with someone else.

01-28-2009, 12:11 PM

Unless you ride with me then expect to be there a while, but the ride will be faster than 3 hours! Right Bill!
FishWife
01-28-2009, 12:48 PM
It sure will be faster. My sons were amazed the first time we drove to FL with Ed. Tom (my oldest) fell asleep right after we left, woke up after just 2 1/2 hours and said "where are we" - Ed said "Virginia!" The trip to my parents in West Palm Beach used to take 21 hours...with Ed - it's 17 1/2 hours. :eclipsee_steering:

As we get closer to the Feb 28th I would like to get a possible head count on who is going to Atlantis.
Please post here, or via pm, if you are going and how many will be in your vehicle. This is a help for Peter as he will be able to get a general idea on how many will be going.
For those who want to go but have no way of getting there...
Please post here as well. There are people going to Atlantis from NJ, PA and NY, and maybe there is an extra seat in someones vehicle who lives close by.
Thanks,
Bill

Joe will serve a fresh salad of TR water hyacinth and water lettuce, followed by daphnia scrambled eggs washed down with a glass of green water directly from his several grow out vases. A side dish of fresh driftwood smothered in bunker oil will be an option for the adventurous.

Hey Joe,
i think you may be one of the few members who saw me (except for the diner crew). I am in some of the pitures Ed took...:odd043:
It was a nice place but after all we've been through with my Dad being hospitalized with pneumonia in FL and our 20 hour trip down, 4 straight days spent at the hospital (with Dad) and Nursing home (to see Mom) and our 26 hour trip back home that included my car engine ceasing due to an issue Toyota knew about and didn't recall, leaving my 2 1/2 yr. old RAV4 in Savannah Georgis to be fixed and then working all week and having a horrible cold and cough for 2 weeks.....I was wiped out. The 5 am wake up call to meet Tom and head up to the Diner just put me over the edge.
I apologize for retreating to Tom's car for my long nap :sleepw: but it made the difference for me - I am finally feeling a little more human. Anyway, there were none of my lovely parrots as you mentioned and discussing said parrot fish with Peter caused him to develop a twitch. I think everyone knew I was there somewhere...where there's YAP, there's always FISHWIFE somewhere near by. :love1: Fun day and great nap!
See you at the Auction. :partay:

I went to Atlantis to purchase a group of Cynotilapia. Walking up and down the last three aisles I was met by many of you who asked the same question, "Did you finally make up your mind"? That place is like an ice cream parlor to me with some sort of chocolate as the flavor to every scoop. I literally spent 2 1/2 hours looking at Mbuna. Flashlight in hand and down on my knees and I still could not decide.
Chwere?
Absolutely beautiful.
Did anyone see who the guy with the bad knees was who snatched the first Chwere?
Red Top Likoma?
Nick a told me that if he were to choose from the few fish that I told him I was interested in that Red Top Likoma should be near the top of my list.
These were definitely one of my favorite of the Cynos.
Pseudotropheus kingsizei Likoma ?
Not my favorite, but they quickly grew on me. At one point I was down on my knees admiring a few of the males in the tank when someone came over to me and begged me to give him first crack at them.
Pseudotropheus elongatus Kanchedza?
Definitely was not a fan.
Cynotilapia afra Mbweka ?
Was there anyone else out there who studied these fish as much as I did?...OH yeah, Haplee and Gmoses.:) What a catch these guys were!
Cynotilapia afra Jalo Reef?
What an overlooked Cyno. This is chocolate ice cream in its purest.
Metriaclima zebra Gold Lions Cove?
These were the Home Run of the Day. The chocolate ice cream with whipped cream, hot fudge and cherries all over it. The BEST LOOKING males were still available after we left. I was worried about adding these in with my Yellow Labs, so I passed. The females are OB...
http://www.cichlids.net/images/fish/metriazebralionscovepr.JPG
Cynotilapia sp Chinyankwazi?
I wish that the females were a little more colorful, but the males were SPECTACULAR! The next time someone says "I am looking for a blue fish to put in my tank" I think I will tell them about these.
