woot my hap sp. thick skin(sp. 44) just spawned. I have a trio with a female over 4 inches and a female around 3.5 from mack74
2 weeks ago the bigger female did the dance with my male...she released ALOT of eggs, but the next morning her mouth was empty.
I go down stairs before to the little female doing the dance with the male. must have been the water change..I hope she holds. Do I treat these fry like regular fry? will they be fine with small mbuna fry?
thanks!

They should spawn every couple of weeks now. The fry should be fine with mbuna fry around the same size. Actually the sp 44 fry are really tough u should have no issues.

Im not going to start a new topic but I have another issue. My male hasnt been eating like usual for the past three days. I tried a bunch of stuff and he wont touch it...only a few flakes MAYBE. Tonight I notice my big female colored up like a male trying to shred apart any fish that walked in her way.. she was even chasing away my arautus. my male is now pale as a ghost and wont come out because she chases him. I wish I wasnt so lazy to take a vid and post it...shes all flared up its amazing
has anyone ever experienced a female doing this? Im sure its a female. Ive seen it spawn but not successfully and her tube looks like its dropping. maybe shes just cranky and about to spawn?

They are prob gonna spawn soon. My males usually don't eat during this and the females can get nasty during this time as well.

the female is almost back to her normal color and attitude..the male will actually come out and eat when shes by him now..I was worried for a while, i will keep an eye on him though. He got so skinny! No spawning...hopefully the water change on saturday will produce some wanted results and action.
hey mack for a second I could have sworn that you gave me a reverse trio but things are looking up

i spoke way too soon. the once dominant fish only come out during eating. The "female"(?) is still all colored up, and the other female that held for me I found beat up and dead the other day. heres a vid. you will see what im talkin about.
any input is appreciated
