I saw that coming a mile away ! Sadly it's a reasonably central location considering all the PA peeps. Did Bill mention the $20 cover charge / donation fee to attend ? Only joking don't blow a vein :neener:

Another bit of news for ECC's Spring '09 auction...

I just received confirmation from Nancy and Steve that SCCichlids will be joining our event as one of the vendors.
This along with Bill from YourFishStuff gives us two great vendors not only for the auction but for the fish hobby as well!

Also, I am working on food for our auction.
As I get more details I will pass it along to all members.

Thank You.

OK, crab cakes...
When we have a road trip to Maryland we will have crab cakes...you up for that?

Side deals?
Soon I will have ECC's auction rules posted (soon means a few days:ill-violated-dead-s)
One of the rules will be about side deals.
This is what we ask:
All side deals are acceptable, but please do not show up at the auction with the intent of bringing something that you do not have a buyer for and that you are not putting up for auction
Case in point:
A few years back at an auction that I was working someone brought bags of fish food. His intent was to sell it at the hall before the auction. He never had a buyer for any of the bags, but he approached everyone asking them if they were interested in his fish food. Those are the side deals we are against.

What kind of food are we talking, Make at the auction or per made and reheated there?
Hot dogs and burgers work for on the spot. Pre made meat balls and sausage maybe some baked zitty (sp?) or the such. Roast beef (hot) could be nice but can be a mess.
Is this more along the lines of what you are looking for?

O heres a question. Whats the split going to be?

fischfan13
01-09-2009, 01:00 AM
Dave, I am looking to get ideas about food...just name what you would be interested in.

As for the split, it is not in stone but it will be in the auction rules that should be out in a few days.

Breakfast: Bacon and Eggs on a hard roll, Taylor Ham and Eggs on a hard roll, coffee.

Lunch: Pastrami or Corned Beef on rye, barrel pickle, french fries and chili. Or maybe an Italian Hot Dog (sausage). Or maybe a few rippers from Rutt's Hut.

Taylor Ham...
You can tell when someone is from Northern Jersey, that is what we always called it.
The Hall is more than happy to cook for us, all I had to do was ask. As it gets closer to April 4th (04-04) we will all get a better idea on what to ask for.

With Artie's recent run, a breaker would trip, a cooker would shut down and he would be serve us undercooked chicken which would proceed to kill us all!

I am moving this weekend and will be working on my tanks through February. Looking forward to the auction once life cuts me a break.
I have not gone to a club meeting or fish related events. As Ed and Tom can testify, I went from a fish room to a 10g and 5g. I have a 2.5 at my office but I am almost never there. I am missing the hobby...

Good luck guys!

Lets see...
Tangs and West Africans, right?

Good luck with the move Dave. If you can, check out the NJAS O'Malley benefit auction during the February meeting. Fish from Tony Orso, George Fear and others. I would think there will be some nice dwarf W. African and SA cichlids there.

fischfan13
02-18-2009, 06:38 PM
Greg, you have to talk to your wife and her decision to book a Disney trip during April!
I think that you should look into changing the dates of your vacation by a few days...I hear that Mickey is very flexible!

unbook the hotel
change the flight

An update:

Looks like we have half of the menu taken care of. Since registration will be from 9-11am and the auction will start at Noon I wanted to make sure that everyone who arrives early will have the chance to fill their bellies. You will be able to purchase breakfast from the people who will be cooking for the Knights of Columbus. Breakfast will include omelettes and pancakes. There will be lunch served from Noon until 3pm, and once I am sure what the K of C will be cooking I will be posting it right here.

Back in December when I made the arrangements with the K of C for the auction I was asked if I wanted upstairs or downstairs. I chose downstairs because back in December we were a website of about 100 people and I figured that maybe 50 people would show to our auction. I did not want to bother my contact from the K of C because he had just been thru open heart surgery and his health is more important than a websites auction. Last night when I spoke with my contact he told me that he had filled the upstairs and that we were locked into the downstairs. As most of you know Tom, Ed and I, along with mk_ultra, successfully ran auctions for another website. One of these auctions was in the ground floor level of the K of C and afterwards when our auctions grew tremendously we moved them up to the upstairs section. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that this website would grow this massively so quickly, and if I had known this three months ago I would have locked in upstairs.

What is good about everything is that the kitchen is connected to the downstairs hall. The party that is upstairs is not starting until 8pm, so this will not affect our parking. It's going to be cozy, to say the least. We will have two vendors, tanks set up with rare fish and plecos and a brand new set up...all for raffles. We are expecting donations from all of our sponsors, PLUS donations from those who are not sponsors. Tom, Ed and I will be getting there extra early that morning to maximize our space...as a matter of fact I will probably be making a trip there before the auction date.
From what I have heard thru the grapevine our selection of fish will be excellent. All lakes plus SA and CA will be represented with livestock. The food will be excellent and the vendors will come fully stocked. There will be fry and juveniles from some award winning fish from various competitions.

It's time to look forward.
EastCoastCichlids will be Ready To Rock once Noon Time hits on 04/04!
