I would like to get some Spirulina pellets that sink. Not the discs but a small pellet at a reasonable price. Does anyone know of any?

I believe that OSI makes a sinking Spirulina Pellet.

Is it a clean food? By that i mean does it make you water filthy? Like NLS is clean because the fish can take it in whole and it doesn't leak out of their gill plates and dirty up the water. Do you know what I mean?

Yup, I know what you mean...but I do not have an answer for you.

Did you ever think about tying up HBH flakes to little pebbles and letting them sink to the bottom?:neener:

Whatcha trying to feed, Rob?

I'm trying to add spirulina into all of my fish's diet, so I had a bag of hickari (spelling) laying around so I started to use it. I gave it to My furcifers and they seem to really like it so I gave it to all my fish. They all seemed to like it a lot. The only thing I didn't like was that the bigger fish took the whole disc in at once. I figure I would be better off getting smaller, 1mm, pellets so every fish will get a share. I tried those soft pellets but they are too big and fall apart and there's $#!T all in the water column, nasty:upset:.

What about the sinking pellets that HBH makes?
I bought a bag from Bill http://www.yourfishstuff.com/ and everyone went nuts over it.
HBH makes large and small pellets, and the small do not break up in the tank.

Tell Bill that you are a member of EastCoastCichlids and that you know me...this way he will charge you an extra 20%.

Jehmco sells highly concentrated Spirulina tabs, as well as 96% pure spirulina flakes (I have the flakes and can say that the fish love them, especially my herbivores).

Helpful hint on sinking wafers. In a fry tank you can drop it in and since it's large all the fry can eat at once without a cloud of tiny particles all over the tank if they don't finish it net out the remainder. And since they have to tear pieces off it probably helps them develope stronger bones and teeth. If you compare wildcaught to tankraised the head and jaw always seem stronger and more developed in the wild specimen's. ( unproven Ambush theory )

I agree that my juvi fish are stuffed after I give them a wafer. They really like the Spirulina and it is a great sup. I got the Omega One floating and I am going to soak them first and see if they sink. They seem like they are high quality pellet.

I have 2 containers of them but they really make a mess of the water. They fall apart fast. The wafers are hard and disintegrate at a slower rate and the smaller & less aggressive fish get a good feeding off of them.

Rob, did you buy the larger soft pellets. There is a small soft pellet that does not break up.

Yes I have the small but come to think of it I may have been feeding them to fish that could not handle them whole. That is why they may have fowled up the water. I just used them now and I like them. Whatta ya know;) :partay: :beerchug:
