It's time for the October Photo Contest.

The subject for October is:
Ugly Fish

The rules:
Picture(s) of your ugliest fish.
Not deformed, not sick, but a healthy fish that you see in your eyes as UGLY.
There is a three picture limit for each poster.

The prize:
Any Danichi food.

I would've entered a few photos but I'd feel I'd be lying because I don't think any of my fish are ugly (though others probably would consider an uncolored 9" lichnochromis acuticeps male ugly :lol:).

But for the hell of it and for your sake Bill I'll post a few I just thought of. These are fish that I personally just didn't like...they weren't good specimens or just never colored up to their potential...

Otopharynx lithobates Zimbawe Rock.... It's yellow blaze when I bought it at 2" was VERY misleading...this fish had just about ZERO blue on his body other than the head... I was very disappointed. Even in breeding/dominant colors he just would turn a dark brown on the body...:

And my old Pundamilia sp. blue bar Hippo Point from Daves. I don't know if it's because I didn't have females for him, or if I just got unlucky... But the only reason I kept him for two years (grew him out to about 4-5"!) was he was my very first mail-order fish and first legitimate cichlid I have kept. I sold him to AMBUSHPREDATOR I don't know what he did with it.

NOTE: In the background of that last image you can see my old wild caught female yellow calvus! She was a beaut for sure! CJC now has her. The male wasn't as nice looking unfortunately in my opinion. It's just funny since she is almost perfectly camouflaged in that pic. That pair I had came from TNTCichlids.

I dont know the proper name,but it's sold as a Tiger Loach..They are hell on Trumpet Snails!!

That sunfish almost could pass for a badly colored Paretroplus menerambo...

I get the idea that hardly anyone here either has ugly fish or believes that their fish are ugly.

That one deserved it. While IMO that is a VERY nice species when you have a good quality strain that maleis just UGLY...
