Gnathochromis Permaxillaris...

Hi All,

These are fairly rare in Australia and currently the wholesalers are selling these for $98 AUS @ 5cms. Retail for approximately for $200 AUS each.
I bought my colony about 2 years ago and I do realize that they don't breed before 3 years. Any hints on breeding please as not much information here downunder. Included a couple of pics of my fish.

Interesting fish. They are peaceful from what I heard. Is that right?

Hi Wayne, yes they are peaceful and I've only ever seen mine slapping tails in aggression. They are an unusual fish and I hope to spawn them one day.

I have a pair of these guys and either one doesn't have that big protruding upper lip. Do only the males get that or is it dependent on size? Mine are approx. 5" with great finage. They are a great community fish.

I almost bought an adult pair in NJ for that price. I was hooked on them but just could not put out that kind of money. I wish I did!
