I've been looking into the Coralife Aqualight T5. Salt one has one actnic and one 10,000k while the fresh one has one 6,700 and one colormax. i am gonna use this on a malawi haps and peacock tank, no plant. So which one is better?

I see no reason to use an actinic on a hap/peacock tank. These are used in sw tanks for corals.

Here's a piece about lighting:

Look at what the bulbs will cost you. I bought a Current light fixture, uses the 96 watt bulbs, a big mistake. I've been thru 4 - 5 bulbs in the past 1 1/2 - 2 yrs and at $26- a bulb, it's not cheap. I've had a metal halide system for 4 yrs and have not changed a bulb yet.
