yesterday morning i was watching my cyps tank and i counted no many how many times there was one fish short :coz: . looking around there one side of the tank all dried up. :sigh::sigh::sigh:
the night before i was netting the remaining non-cyps from the tank to make it a species tank maybe startled the fish. are cyps known to jump? there's only a two inch opening on the back of the tank which i now covered.

They are jumpers. Keep as much of the tank surface covered as possible.
The only exposed area in my tank is for a power filter.

I would try to find out why they are jumping. What are they in with?

Mine jump. I think it's other cyps that are chasing them. No one else goes near the surface except my brevis.

they were with three other 1 inch malawi fry. it's quite possible when i try to net the malawis one jumped from the back. these cyps are less than 2 inches there's no chasing yet. i did not expect them to jump like DJ said they don't swim on the surface just mid water.

11 is plenty man but if you want to buy more thats on you.... Wait to they grow out a little, be a little patient. I hate to see you waste your money. When they get to 3in and start coloring up you can determine from there males and female ratio... You can end up with 4m and 7f or vice versa and that would still be a good ratio either way you are gonna have atleast 3 or 4 girls.IMO Good luck.
Sorry to hear about the loss but rule #1 on keeping cyps IMO is keep your lids covered completely... You walking by them can spook them out sometimes...
