I actually get most of my foods from my Local Fish store..

He gets 50 pound bags of (namebrand) in Bulk and passed the savings down to us.

I also get sinking shrimp pellets, and veggie wafers from him( diffrent Brand Name ) the same way..

Since I've dwindled my tanks down to a handful I can get away $2.00 worth of Flake $2.50 worth of shrimp and Veggie pellets a month.

I know I could go to www.Kensfish.com or www.bigalsonline.com and get these foods for a few cents cheaper But then I'd have to pay shipping ontop of the prices.

Up until the last batch of food, i used NLS exclusively. The last batch i bought was Dainichi Color Supreme. After using both I will be switching back to NLS for these reasons:

-I didn't notice any difference in fish color
-NLS has a slower sinking pellet
-My fish seemed to produce more waste while on Dainichi
-Cost and availibility ( i can find NLS cheaper and more places than Dainichi)

Don't get me wrong both are great foods, but if I can save a few bucks along the way i will.

I feed Dainichi sinking pellets as the staple. I try different formulas every so often, but currently I am feeding 1mm Color Supreme and 3mm Ultima with Krill Coating.

For my fish that will only eat flakes they get OmegaOne Cichlid Flakes with Jehmco Pure Spirulina Flake mixed in.

Frozen foods as treats are Krill, Plankton (Pacific Krill), Mysis Shrimp, Brine Shrimp, Cyclop-Eeze for my Nyassachromis and fry, and Baby Brine Shrimp for fry. Freeze Dried I only have Plankton.

Live foods are guppies I breed in a 2.5gallon, Live Grass Shrimp, or Live Brine Shrimp.

Has anyone tried Dainichi Color FX? I just ordered some from Your Fish Stuff. It has Cyclo-peeze in it. I plan on mixing it in with NLS.

Has anyone tried Dainichi Color FX? I just ordered some from Your Fish Stuff. It has Cyclo-peeze in it. I plan on mixing it in with NLS.

I have used it before. It's fantastic to raise fry and juveniles on, especially ones that have reds, yellows, oranges, etc in their coloration.

Anyway about your post above, their formulas have the most impact on coloration and so on when the fish are juveniles I personally noticed.

However most of my fish tend to have more blue coloration so I just feed Color Supreme now since it has a higher spirulina content. Of course for fry I also feed frozen cyclops-eeze, S.B.B. spirulina brine shrimp, etc...

The reasons why I like Dainichi more is that they use calcium montmorillonite clay which helps with digestion, and use pretty much all natural ingredients for the bulk of the food, and natural ingredients for the color enhancing parts rather than just use the extracted chemical or whatever (ie, for yellows, reds, and oranges, they add Krill, Cyclop-Eeze, etc)... And they aren't afraid to tell you pros and cons of each of their formulas, and I even got them to modify one of their formulas customly for me before....

Anyway now that they dropped their Primary Krill formula I was going to have my next order of 3mm small pellets be for their new Ultima formula which has an exterior coating of krill on it, rather than the exterior coating of spirulina their other formulas like Color Supreme has...
