I'm very new to Tangs and found everybody to be very helpful since I've been reading everybody's past post on advices. I have a question that i'm sure someone can help with. I just ran into this species of featherfin but haven't been able to find anything on it at all, at least nothing useful. This is the full name, Cyathopharynx foai Kafyoka. :action-smiley-057:

Hi as far a the featherfins go information on one say feeding ,water conditions and breeding they are all pretty much the same so you can use info on furcifer when caring for foi. As far as finding who has them go fish. Good luck in your search.

tigger, welcome to EastCoastCichlids.
I think that I found a picture of Cyathopharynx foai Kafyoka. I would assume that the care is the same as any other Featherfin.
What other info are you looking for?

I am not sure what you are wanting to know....

The exact fish you are asking about isn't seen too often in the hobby. There are many variants of furcifer/foai that are all very pretty. They are some of the prettiest fish from lake tang.

In terms of keeping them...

I suggest at least a 5 foot tank. 6 foot preferable. They grow quite large. Typically about 8 inches in the home aquarium. Although they can get bigger....

Tank mates.... Paracyprchromis make great tanks mates along with Cyprichromis.

They do better in groups. 6+ depending on the size of tank. Try and always have two males in the tank as they will show better color and the tank will be a lot more fun.

Food: I try and stick with pellets, mysis, raw shrimp, flake.... really anything except for brine shrimp and black worms.

They build HUGE sand pits in the sand... so sand is a must :) Try and stick with rocks that are smooth as they tend to bump into things and damage their eyes.

Hope that helps... any other question feel free to ask.

Yo Percy, What's up. A guy BigDawg on Aqabid had them and so did a few here in the NY area. Rare, yes, but should be treated like any other Furcifer/Foai. Big tank is needed with a lot of sand to build their bower.

Basically what Longstocking said.

Welcome to the site. :tea:
