I remember at the National Aquarium in Baltimore and seeing photos on Monster Fish Keepers of a fish that can live out of water for some periods of time but I can't at all think of what they were called!!! (I have a leaker tank laying around that I am considering making it a paludarium). So I am interested in trying to see how much they typically sell for and do my research of course...

Anyone have any ideas?

Are you thinking of the walking catfish of the genus Clarias?

Or Snakeheads, don't know the scientific name but I could look it up. They are the fish that are in the Potomac tributaries.

No they are a tiny fish, maybe a few inches long. They are from Borneo I THINK (or Madagascar, not sure what exhibit it was from at the aquarium) and I believe their habitat is either mangroves or bogs/swamps... Not sure if that helps you guys.

I'm going to keep googling myself and see if I come up with what I am looking for...

I think this is the fish I was looking for. It came up in one of my google image searches for an amphibious fish.

Ed - the last time that I was in Adam's Pet Safari he had a tank of these. Maybe 4 or 5 in the tank.
The tank itself was about 1/2 full of water with floating wood for the mudskippers to climb upon.
The store is in Chester, NJ.

Do you recall how much he was asking for them or was that a show tank? Thanks for the info though!

Sweet, I'm going to look into that and do some research on them. I was thinking of instead of selling my leaker 150g at an upcoming garage sale (have to move soon) of resealing it heavily on the bottom and sides so I can safely fill it partially with water without worrying about it leaking... Plus I always wanted to keep Archer Fish as well...

Just found out they are brackish... Looks like they are going to have to wait until after I move...

They are awesome fish though...

I'll have to check with Adam if he keeps them in brackish water. I highly doubt it.

I'm usually there a couple times a month, always on NJAS meeting night.

Ryan, great place to work.
Must be nice to have a constant supply to add to your home tanks.
