What are everybody's favorite Non-Rift Lake (Lake Tanganyika, L. Malawi, L. Victoria) cichlid species?
Though I have never kept any YET, my two favorites would have to be Thoracochromis brauschi, and Steatocranus sp....I just love T. brauschi's color and appearance and I am interested in finding out if they are bred in more acidic water if the broods are more female heavy (from what I hear from breeders in Texas in their hard alkaline water the T. brauschi broods are EXTREMELY male heavy...) and with Steatocranus sp. I love their comical appearance and their behavior and either small or no swim bladder (correct me if I am wrong but some of the species have swim bladders and others like S. tinanti don't have any at all?) with them perching all over the tank.
So what are everybody's favorites and why?
