I'm assuming that this site is intended to bring together people on the Eastern Seaboard and eventually host auctions and such...but are there any plans or ambitions for a large convention similar to the ACA Convention or the OCA Extravaganza?

The site is less than a week old. We have no plans as such.

Well, are there any ambitions then? Certainly I'd hope to see you guys host a large convention within a year and a half if possible...

As we have stated, we will hold auctions, subsidize road trips, sponsor fish show classes, donate to wothy hobby related causes.
Thanks for your suggestion but it can costs thousands of dollars(in both renting space and purchasing equipment) and may involve dozens of people putting in a lot of time to put on a successful fish show/convention. We lack both funds and manpower to do such a thing.
There are very few clubs in the northeast that put on shows/conventions any more. The NEC and AFish are consortiums of many societies with dues paying members. NJAS has been around over 50 years. I don't know of any websites that can put on such expensive events.
When I started the NECA, New England Cichlid Association, I was originally hoping to host an ACA convention at some point. It seems that many of the clubs across the country are fading away and interest is being lost. Running a club without shows, auctions, events is a lot of work and it's hard to find volunteers. I'll just be happy to see a couple large cichlid auctions each year.
