I'm downsizing the mbuna tank where the Synos live from 125G to 75G. I'm hoping they will be fine in the new tank, any thoughts? There are great catfish hiding places, including covered terra cotta dishes under the rockpiles. Same tankmates except I removed the Acei and will thin out the Cynotilapia, the 75G stock list will look like this:
15-20 Demasoni (I'll count them when I move them)
5 Cynotilapia sp. hara
4 Yellow labs (three are Fischfan's...where are my juvies!!)
3 Red Zebras (all proven females)
6 Synodontis Lucipinnis
5 Synodontis Multipunctatus (also Fischfan's)

If they are all adults, then that's a lot of synos and africans for a 75.
Why not split them up? The multis will grow larger than the lucipinnis so you could leave them in the tang tank.
However if they are adults and your goal is to breed the lucipinnis I would put them in the tang tank.
Here's a link for the lucipinnis:

I spawned the lucipinnis(then petricola)years ago in a 55g tank that contained a dozen Cyprichromis.

Won't the Synos bother the Brevis? If I HAVE to split them up, I'd probably put the Lucipinnis in the 38G peacock tank.

I've kept both the lucipinnis and multipunctatus and never found them overly aggressive, in my tanks at least. If your brevis are especially small then the multis may present a problem as they can grow to 6 inches +.
I don't think the lucipinnis are a problen in either set up.
I'm currently keeping S. eurystomus(polli), S. angelicus(now that's an aggressive one) and S, granulosus. I'm also trying to breed Phyllonemus typus, the Tanganyikan moustache cat.

You don't have to worry about overpopulation in that tank, post birth -birth control is in full effect I'm sure.

Planetcatfish said it would be OK, but your replies got me thinking. I ended up putting the Multipunctatus in the 75G and the Lucipinnis in the 38G with some juvie peacocks. I'll enjoy the Lucipinnis more if they aren't lost in the crowd.
