Right near the craziness of Tropheus and Malawi tanks...
Right next to a 125g that still has a growing personality of Tangs and Haps...
And underneath a Mbuna growout tank is a 20g long filled with plants, Cories and 14 Nannostomus Trifasciatus, aka the Three-Lined Pencilfish.
I had a very small group of these almost a decade ago, and after a small bout with my own stupidity I lost all of them. I have looked for these for quite a long time. No one has had them in any lfs that I have visited. A few months back when I first met Mark Denaro I was told by Tommy (AlishanAS) that he is the guy who could get them.
What a pleasant surprise to be sitting at our auction when I heard "Nannostomus trifasciatus", the Three-Lined Pencilfish, called out. Six of them and I was NOT going to be outbid. A few weeks later I met Mark at the NJAS auction and he brought nine more for me (one very small fish did not make it after the first day).
Fourteen N.Trifasciatus and a bunch of Cories in a heavily planted 20g long.
I am using a sand substrate that has a little bit of black gravel mixed into it.
What a huge change.
Usually I am used to looking at the hustle and bustle of Africans, but these little slender guys have made for a peaceful change.
Not my pic, but a really nice looking specimen.
