View Full Version : CYCLOP-EEZE, ZOOPLANKTON?
I bought a bar of this stuff, any body use it for Cichlid fry or any fresh water fish?
I broke a very small piece off and thawed it out with a square of frozen BBS for my F-1 Yellow Calvus, just went thru there egg sacs 2 days ago. You think it's OK to use or they won't touch it?

I use it for cichlid fry, Cyprichromis, livebearers, Corydoras. All of my fish eat it.

I used the dried wafers ground up for newborn fry if they are too small for NLS Growth.

I've used the frozen bar, tiny little pieces at a time...well worth it if you ask me.
Thanks, I usually pulverize some Omega One along with other flake food but, decided to try something new to see if the BBS and this Cyclop-eeze which wasn't cheap, makes any differance. Just didn't want to feed anything that might just spoil the water since these are the 1st fry I got from these Calvus.

I use the bar and use a disposable razor (as long as you wipe the razor clean it won't rust) to slice thin slices. My fry like it and my wildcaught Nyassachromis love the stuff (they're zooplankton/phytoplankton feeders in the wild).
However, while my peacock fry I fed it to long ago LOVED the stuff and went nuts over it, my Nyassachromis fry reluctantly ate it and prefer Golden Pearls much better.
If your fry don't end up eating the baby brine shrimp or the cyclops I'd consider giving Golden Pearls a try.
Anyway congrats on the spawn! I was wondering when the pair I sold you would breed for you!

Ed,
they've bred 3 times now. She's sitting on another group now, just saw the fry today.
Oh yea, I got the 3M color quartz and floated a bag of Argonite? on top in the 180. A lot of work swapping out the gravel but it looks nice. Didn't finalize the rock work yet. I'll post some pic's once AP gets over here. Thanks for the help.

I have used first FD and currently frozen cyclop-eeze for cory fry, angel fry, pleco fry (incl zebra), pearl danios, cardinal tetras, rasboras small rainbows and most any small fish or fry I have had. I can't rember if I fed it P nicholsi fry or not as I only kept these fish about 10 months.
This is for sure a pricier food but well worth it, imo, especially for fry.

I use the stuff on occasion. More as a treat though. It's cost prohibitive when you have 30 tanks.
