The new crypts I bought for the 125G are melting, a common occurrance with crypts. I'll be planting the roots anyway since they are supposed to grow back. I'll let you know.:o

One of the reasons Crypts melt is because they are often grown emersed in a greenhouse and then shipped to stores to sell. The plants must make the transition to submersed growth which often leads to the melt. A healthy rootstock will grow more leaves back given time.

Some other reasons for melting are transplanting within a tank and changing the lighting intensity or duration.

The fertilizer tabs Dave spoke about really won't prevent the melting process, but they will help the plants once the roots begin to grow.

I have some nice shoots remaining and no further melting, so we will see how they do.
