not sure if this would be the right section but i recently just setup a 20g long for a community tank. running on a penguin 150 and a topfin 120w heater. i have a air pump rated for a 20gal tank with an air stone and the air bubbles are collecting over the whole surface of the tank. is this normal? would it trap any gases that need to be released? right now im on day 2 of cycling the tank.

Often when you set up a new tank, air bubbles are everywhere. The bubbles should disappear in a few days. Nothing to worry about.
