So currently I have one Demasoni in my 90gal tank after all my issues. I know that I will add 6 yellow labs with the one demasoni. What others should I add? I want to keep the stocking to only 4 species. Thoughts?

14 Demasoni, 5 metriaclima estherae, 5 Cynotilapia sp. hara, 5 Synodontis Multipunctatus. Wow, that sounds familiar.;)

How do the Cynotilapia and Demasoni get together?
I tried that combo in a 55g once and I swear they never even looked at each other.

Dan, how about some Labeotropheus or Fuelleborni?
Maybe about six (2m/4f) of a nice OB?

Go to photos and check out RD's.

The cynotilapia have just matured, so it may be too soon to tell. The Demasoni don't bother the cyno's any more than they bother the labs. This cyno is not dark blue barred however, the females are medium blue and the males are light blue with a few thin black bars.

They look nothing alike...kind of like positive and negative on the blue bar spectrum.

I also have too many male cynos, as many as four. When I move them from the 125G (where they are for one more day) so the Tangs can have the tank, I'm going to choose one male for the 75G and the rest will be excess. I'll keep the spares in a extra tank for a month or so for verification, LOL.

I never had a problem with mixing my Cynotilapia with Ps. demasoni and Ps. saulosi. Each species was more concerned about their own species than any other ones.

Dan, if you are interested I have some Maylandia Hajomaylandi. They go really well with Yellow Labs...oh yeah, I have some Labs too.<and I am also holding onto some for DJ as well:D>

I have no problems with demasoni and Cynotalipia afra white top haras. They get along well in a 150g.

what about some kenyi and socofoli or better yet some white labs to compliment the yellow labs. :woot:

Never been a fan of the Kenyi and I haven't seen a white lab (except online). I know that I would love to add about 10 more Demasoni, they are great fish. Yet I can't find that one fish that "puts me over the edge".

Dan, go Google these words...
Lake Malawi
Mbuna
African Cichlids
Cynotilapia
Pseudotropheus
Make sure you Google them under "Images".

Check out Dave's site:
http://www.davesfish.com/
(Nick, tell Dave he just got his first plug)
Look at the long list of fish there.

I am 99% sure that you will be changing things around in the future anyway.

Once I get this going I really don't want to change the fish. Would love to breed in the future. Would an Ice Blue work well with the other fish that I have? Thinking about adding one of them...

Two Pseudotropheus together???
Nope, I wouldn't do it.

Really? I would, since Pseudotropheus is sort of a "holding" place for fish yet to be classified, right?

Also isn't ice blue a Metriaclima Greshakei?

The Metriaclima Greshakei is what I was looking at. Currently the Labs and Demasoni don't even bother each other, which is great. The Demasoni is one of the most personal fish I have seen. The way the swim throughout the rock work is cool.

I like the metr. ( Msobo deep ) you could put 2/3 males in with 6 females and with one fish your doing dark blue/black mixed awesome males with bright yellow females. Giving you two good color's without having additional male female mixing going on. A must for clean breeding. Then you add a descent red group and your done. here's a msobo male center, it's a bad shot but better than no shot at all http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii20/Bluewatr/IMG_2013.jpg

Call me old-school but I wouldn't do it.
Yes, ice blue is a Metriaclima, but years ago many called it a Pseudotropheus.

There are some absolutely beautiful Thumbi Island available from a couple of members.
Mack74 had some.
I had a load of them and sold them off about 18 months ago.
Here are a few of the males...
