Depends upon how much maintenance you want to do and how much filtration you have. Those fish are going to grow.

sounds like you have the maint aspect covered. Your question about maturing will be difficult to answer but adding other fish to your existing stock can be a huge question mark. In my experiences, I have always experienced some fish that had been singled out. I always had multiple tanks to toss them in if that problem arose

A 55g can be stocked with 30+ Mbuna very easily.
Lots of rockwork and heavy filtration...I have done this for years. The one thing that I never liked was ONE of these and TWO of those and ONE of these and so on...
Pick three Mbuna and go with them.
Get to know what you are buying.
Some lfs have people who work there who will tell you that these nice blue fish can go with those nice yellow fish. Buy from people who have been in the hobby and breed. Go onto our site and click onto any of our sponsors and look at their lists of fish.
Ask away and good luck.
