My wife agreed to let me set up a 55g I got from a friend in the house. only problem is that i dont have the stand or canopy. I plan on using these plans http://www.arbreptiles.com/cages/75g_stand/index.shtml . The fish im planning on getting still have about a month to mature so in the meantime I still have to get sand, stand, canopy, lights, hang on back filter and canister, and master test kit. Also may have to redo the silicone inside of the 55g. Not to mention moving the 35g to maybe my sons room. :coz:

Congrats! Enjoy your new tank, make it look nice and get your honey into the hobby!!!! In case you set it up in your living room and she is sensitive to noise, be aware of your choice of filter and lightings.....and make sure there is no smelly water.....just my 2 cents....

Congratulations on getting the tank. Have you tested it to see if it holds water? If you do have to reseal it there are a few threads around here on ECC about which silicone to use and how to clean off all the silicone with a razor . I never had to reseal a tank but many members here has. Good Luck with your tank, and dont forget to post pictures.

lol, i would appreciate the stand, just wish i saw it before i bought all the lumber today, lol. I was having some problems with the smell on my 35g but realized i was overfeeding. Im pressing myself to get a proper test kit soon so i can practice with it before i get the 15 cichlids fry's, because the guy im buying them from is exceptional with his water quality and care.

I have a real nice canopy for a 55G that I'm not using. I'll sell it cheap. PM me if you want it. I'm in middlesex too.

100% pure silicone, NOT the stuff that is mold/mildew resistant.

i am in a similar position. My wife gave me the ok about 6 months ago. I think she is regretting it now.haha. I am now always on this forum, buying new fish, stopping at random pet stores when we are out.

Good luck with the fish, and the wife

May be someone should start a thread with title "how to make your wife/spouse happy with your fishkeeping hobby...." Let's get some creative ideas and learn from each other.....I have one 125g and one 55g in my living room but I have my eyes set in my basement for few more.....

Damn good idea bro. haha
I am already trying to work on a 55 to go next to my 150 in my mancave. I am thinking about going the angle of a "hospital" tank, and then change it to a breeder.haha I have a feeling she is not going to by it. maybe i will try to booze her up a little

Now shes saying she agreed to the 55 only, not both. Maybe new earrings :)
