What is a good price for a 125 gallon tank set-up?
I found what I thought is a great deal on a 180, but I thinking the tank might actually be a 125. It has a wood stand, standard hood and a Fluval 405(one broke).
So I was wondering how much I should offer if it actually is a 125.
I got my 125s (tank only) new at the That Fish Place sale last year. I believe I paid $156.00 for each (including tax). That is a ridiculous price, but would give you an idea of a starting point.
Glass lids are another $30-$40 new and the stand would be a couple of hundred new. For the one working filter, what? maybe another hundred bucks?
I'd feel decent about offering $250 for that setup, but they may think that's sort of low. Good starting point imo.

+1... I think $250-300ish is a good deal for all involved with the broken filter.
Its a buyers market, Ca$h is King in a recession. Especially in the Used Aquarium area. A Dollar a gallon each is a fair price for the stand and Tank used. Keep in mind these things take up a lot of space when empty. When I sold my Big tank, I couldn't wait to get it out of the way.
Theres a used tank price guide "Sticky" that Heyguy74 posted, thats been floating around. I feel that it is right on point. Ive forwarded it to people during "Hard Negotiations" before and got my price or at least a fair middle ground was achieved. When Ive sold tanks, Ive used it to to come to an asking price.

$250 seems like a reasonable target price to me.
I talked to the guy and it does seem like a case where he is pretty eager to get rid of it. The stand is pretty nice and I might have settled around $300 if it was sold as a 125 originally.

I'd agree with $200 to 250 as well. A lot depends on the shape of the equipment. I recently picked up a barely used 125, no stand, glass tops, 300w heater, and an eheim 2026(no hoses and needs some tlc) for $200.

I paid $300 for mine, included a homebuilt cabinet stand, glass tops, titanium heater, and an aquaclear 110 if I remember correctly. Could I interest you in a set of UG filter plates? Also included a small (5 gal<) acrylic flatback hex and some assorted ornaments, a large clown loach, and a 10" sailfin gibby that went to the lfs. Old tank, no center brace/s, but not scratched or chipped.

It turned out to be a 180, so I was very happy with the deal :)

Interesting thread, as I'll be looking for a 6 footer soon.

$325 for the 180, it was a steal in this area. It seems your area has some better deals, so you might be able to get close.

I think you worked out a great price.. A 180 for that money is a pretty sweet deal.
